The most important Canadian porcine insemination center CIPQ was created in 1977. The enterprise, under the direction of Mr. Ronald Drapeau, agronomist and general manager, employs 74 employees whose objective is to provide the pig producers with the best material and porcine insemination service available. Its lodging capacity of more than 750 boars is divided into three (3) different geographical sites : the Beauce region (St-Lambert), the Estrie region (Roxton Falls) and the Lanaudière region (St-Cuthbert).
The CIPQ Inc. is the property of "La Société Québecoise d'Initiatives agro-alimentaires" (SGF-SOQUIA Inc.) since 1990. It is administered by a board of directors made up of representatives from many organizations connected with porcine production : The Federation of Pig Producers of Québec (FPPQ), the Quebec Association of Animal and Cereal Nutrition Industries "l'Association québécoise des industries de nutrition animale et céréalière (AQUINAC)" the Quebec Association of Animal Nutrition Industries, La Coopérative Fédérée de Québec, the Society of Pig Farmers of Quebec "la Société des éleveurs de porcs du Québec (SEPQ), the Quebec Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Nutrition "le ministère de l'agriculture, des pêcheries et de l'alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ)" and the SGF-SOQUIA inc. This excellent representation guarantees an insemination service which corresponds to the needs of the Quebec porcine industry. For the year ending March 31, 1999, the CIPQ Inc. has commercialized more than a million doses (500, 000 double doses). This volume of activity means that about 60% of pigs produced in Quebec are sired by boars produced in our centers. | ||||||||||||||
